What is Cannabis

Updated: Jul 14, 2022

Cannabis is a natural plant that has been growing around the world for thousands of years. Due to centuries of misinformation about Cannabis, the distinction between Cannabis and its two primary species, hemp, and marijuana, has become unclear to many. What's the difference between Cannabis, Hemp, and Marijuana? Cannabis, Hemp, and Marijuana are not the same thing. Cannabis is a family of plants with two primary classifications, Indica and Sativa. Hemp and Marijuana are species of Cannabis that are both members of the Cannabis Sativa family. Cannabis contains a variety of different compounds called Phytocannabinoids. Photo means "plant". The two most dominant are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). Both have shown to provide profound benefits to the human body; however, THC induces psychoactive effects (gets the user "high"), while CBD does not contain psychoactive properties. Humans and all mammals produce endocannabinoids. Endo means "within". Hemp's phytocannabinoids work with our Endocannbinoid System (ECS), a vast receptor system that helps support homeostasis and health. Marijuana is often associated with THC, and hemp extract is often associated with CBD, wellness of phytocannabinoids. All our oils are hemp-derived, non-GMO, and contain unique combinations of phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other valuable hemp compounds that work synergistically to heighten positive effects, sometimes referred to as the "Entourage" or "Hemptourage" Effect, making it complete rather than a single CBD compound. Plus you do not need a medical marijuana card to purchase any of our products. Have you wondered if hemp seed oil from the store is similar? The answer is no. Hemp extracts like Balance are rich in Phytocannabinoids and are used to relieve anxiety, help focus, recover from exercise, reduce inflammation in the body, and more. The hemp oil found in the grocery store contains low levels of CBD or none at all. Our products are made from the whole plant, while the grocery store product is made from the seeds. CBD from hemp has grown in popularity, and while the FDA prohibits companies from making health claims, there is a growing collection of testimonials from individuals who have experienced the benefits firsthand, many reporting that it has helped them with chronic pain, anxiety, epilepsy, drug withdrawals, cancer, and more. We recommend that you always seek quality and consistent whole plant phytocannabinoids for your optimal wellbeing.
