More than ever, more people are struggling to maintain their mental health due to the pandemic. Here are a few simple ways to look after your mental health that is easy to incorporate into your wellness plan. If your symptoms are overwhelming and interfere with your quality of life, please get in touch with a professional.
1. Talk to someone about your feelings
Talking about your feelings isn't a sign of weakness. It's part of taking charge of your wellbeing and doing what you can to stay healthy. Find someone you trust and start the conversation. You might find out that they needed someone to open up to as well.
2. Keep active
Regular exercise can boost your self esteem, help your concentration, sleep and feel better. When you exercise your brain releases chemicals that make you feel good. Exercising doesn't mean doing a sport or going to the gym. Try walking, gardening or even housework, anything that gets your body moving. Experts suggest that 30 minutes of exercise at least five days a week is beneficial for your mind and body.
3. Eat well
Food can have a lasting effect on your mental health because your brain needs a mix of nutrients to stay healthy. There are strong links between what we eat and how we feel. Eating a healthy balance diet that includes a variety of whole foods and plenty of water helps the body function properly.
